THE UGLY DUCKLING BOULDER
1.) BATTLE OF THE SHADOWS V9****- WOW. If you like pulling hard on tiny crystals and looking for hidden beta this is the problem for you. Start under the overhang on good holds work out onto the overhang and use however you can to follow up the open book feature on tiny quartz crimps. Toe Hook might help!
First Ascent: Chris Hirsch
2.) UGLY DUCKLING V3***– SDS on semi-sharp but positive crimp holds. Work up pass the dyke feature. Take a breather and fire up the good crystals up above and throw for a small indent smooth dimple and mantle.
First Ascent: Amanda Tagoli
3.) NO MORE MR.T ( FRYBERGERS DYKE) V9/10**** – The original name Chuck gave this problem was NO MORE MR.T he also rated it V9/10. This is a link up of Ugly Duckling into Vise Grips. SLOPER LOVE! Need cool temps on these slopers.
First Ascent: Chuck Fryberger 2000
4.) Vise Grips ( BEARS SEE THINGS PRETTY MUCH THE WAY THEY ARE) V7****– CLASSIC! Originally climbed and named by Travis Rypkema in the late 90s. Over time people began calling it Vise-Grips and it stuck so well given the features on route. Throw up for the bread loaf pinch. Move up to a undercling/ crimp and then move up to the jug hold on the lip to a thoughtful mantle.
First Ascent: Travis Rypkema late 90s
5.) NW ARETE V4** – Starts standing work the arete and a few small crimps to the smoothed out mantle ( Crux ).
THE UGLY DUCKLING BOULDER EAST FACE
