Lanky Boulder

THE LANKY BOULDER

GETTING THERE AND INFORMATION:

The Lanky Boulder is a tall boulder that is very obvious when walking up towards the Tennie Shoe boulder and the Scenic Boulder. If you look to climbers left when heading to these problems you will see the spire like boulder on the ridge line of the Scenic Overview. Mikel Cronin was the first to climb this boulder and it was named Lanky because the taller you are the better reaches you have! This boulder isn’t hard at all but it is quite tall and not the greatest landing. It saw its first known repeat in 2016. In 2016 another easy warm up was added to the right of Lanky. Shanky! Shanky! V1.

  1. Lanky V2**

Stand start and move up the face using good but small crystals. Easy problem but feels more committing than it should. Great views on the top somewhat of a Needles Summit feel overlooking the valley below with the Primal Wall in the distance.

2. Shanky! Shanky! V1*

Starts standing just slightly right of Lanky. Move up using the seams and working the short easy bulge towards the top. Gets the name when a certain climber was down climbing the easy back and decided to jump into some tall bushes. One of the branches gave him a nice puncture wound. Luckily it was a laughable situation.
